If you like old timey Western cartoons, there was an episode of The Jackie Chan Adventures where they kill a Chinese vampire by stealing one of his socks, stuffing something from a cemetery in it (I thought it was a rock, but it must have been mushrooms) and throwing it into a nearby river, in the nick of time before sunrise. It's how I learned about Chinese vampires (and realised Dragon Ball's Qiaozu is apparently one of them?) in the first place. (Also, if TJCA is to be believed, Japanese oni are impervious to garlic, a major weakness of Chinese demons, but are vulnerable to onion instead.)

It's funny that's where I also just found that about. I just watched that show 2mons ago as throwback. But, I'm a little vague about the character from Dragon Ball if Chiaotzu is actually one himself. From what I remember about observing Toriyama's manner of naming, He just slaps some random words to use as name on Dragon Ball universe.

Going back, I remember Chiaotzu's design being inspired by one while human with just extra traits and several skills. Toriyama, if I remember, named the duo (Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu) from a fried rice with dumplings. Just like how he named Yamcha's group from Chinese tea blends

Yeah, Toryama does that a lot (Senbei Norimaki and Arale-chan, Shu and Mai, Tien Shinhan and Chiaotzu… I wasn't aware that Yamcha and Pu Ar were another one such pairing, though I can't say it surprises me). But you can't deny Chiaotzu at least looks like a Chinese vampire any more than you can deny Tien has three eyes… My headcanon is that he and Tien are simply not humans, just like Oolong and Pu Ar and Master Karin and the Earth's king; in early Dragon Ball non-human characters were very common and not seen as out of the ordinary by the general population in the slightest (one of the things I dislike about DBZ is how it seemingly retconned that).

Oh yeah, I remember Toriyama's DB universe (or multiverse) is multi-racial and very diverse. Filled with saiyans, humans, furries (UwU), aliens from different planets, deities, etc. etc.

I liked it better before there were Saiyans and aliens from all over the universe and deities upon deities… back when it was just magic and cute talking animals and androids and mythological creatures of various sorts, and the closest we had to aliens and deities was Kami-sama and Picolo Daimaō.
